An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has died, and another LASTMA officer is battling for his life in hospital, after they were attacked by some commercial bus drivers in Bariga.
Police have moved into the area and arrested at least seven persons in connection with the death of Godwin Obasu, and the injuries sustained by Hakeem Adeniyi.
Reports say trouble started after the LASTMA officials impounded the vehicle of a commercial bus driver for alleged violation of the traffic law of Lagos State.
LASTMA’s Assistant Director of Public Affairs, Filade Olumide, confirmed the incident in a statement, adding that the General Manager, Olajide Oduyoye, condemned the attack on his men.
