Court strikes out DSS suit seeking to further Detain Igboho’s Aides

A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the request by the Department of State Services to extend the detention of four persons linked to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho.

The four persons mentioned in the DSS’ motion are among twelve persons who were arrested when DSS operatives invaded Igboho’s home in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the early hours of July 1, 2021.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu had on August 4, 2021, granted bail to all twelve persons based on a fundamental rights case filed by their lawyer, after the DSS failed to charge them for any crime.

However; the DSS opposed the bail for Amudat Habitat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah Oyetunji and Bamidele Sunday.

When the matter resumed for consideration today, the DSS lawyer informed that court about an appeal against the bail before the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
