EFCC & AMCON fights over recovered properties from treasury looters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is locked in a dispute with the Assets Management Company of Nigeria over the handling of properties recovered from treasury looters.

Reports have it that AMCON was laying claim to some of the assets recovered from persons close to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

However; the EFCC is said to have called on the National Assembly to intervene and stop AMCON from interfering with its operations.

An unnamed member of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Recovered Looted Assets made the revelation in an interview with newsmen.

The lawmaker said AMCON was claiming that some of the assets were already in possession of banks before the EFCC went to courts to secure their forfeiture.
