Electoral Act Amendment reports presented to National Assembly

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has rejected allegations of manipulation of its report on the Electoral Act amendment.

Senator Lawan described those making such accusations against the leadership of the National Assembly as trouble makers who are not well informed.

The Senate President challenged Nigerians who have expectations from the Electoral Act amendment to channel such through their representatives in the National Assembly.

Senator Lawan made the call after the report of the proposed amendment of the Electoral Act was laid before the Senate.

The report was presented by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission, Senator Kabiru Gaya.

Similarly; the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters has presented its report on the amendment of the Electoral Act before the House for consideration.

The Chairman of the Committee, Aisha Duku, made the presentation during plenary today to enable the House consider and pass the amendment before going on its summer vacation.

Still in the House of Representatives, the PDP has lost another of its members from Zamfara State, in the person of Kabiru Amadu, who formerly joins the APC.

Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, read the Amadu’s letter of defection during today’s plenary.
