Government appointees stopped from voting in APC convention

The National Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress has issued guidelines for the conduct of the party’s national convention tomorrow.

The leadership of the party declared that all political appointees who were elected as delegates to the National Convention shall not be allowed to vote.

In a statement published on its Twitter handle, the APC leadership said the decision is because of the controversy surrounding Section 84, Subsection 12 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

The National Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee said political appointees can still attend the convention in Abuja as observers.

Meanwhile; the Accreditation Sub-committee of the APC National Convention Planning Committee has said that delegates will have to show means of identification before they can be accredited.

The Committee’s Secretary, Tijjani Musa Tumsah, disclosed in a statement that the acceptable means of identification at the convention on Saturday are FRSC Driver’s License, Permanent Voters Card, International Passport, and National ID Card.
