Groups defend REC Igini over Edo APC allegations

The All Progressives Congress in Edo State continues to face criticism over its allegations against Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, MIKE IGINI.

The Edo APC had alleged that IGINI was conniving with the PDP and Governor GODWIN OBASEKI to rig the governorship election on September 19, 2020, in favour of the rival party.

The Northern Youth Coalition for Credible Election is the latest group to add its voice in defence of the integrity of MIKE IGINI over the APC’s allegations.

Chairman of the Arewa Group, Malam INUWA ABDULLAHI, said in a statement that the APC’s allegations against IGINI were misguided and outside the boundaries of decency.

ABDULLAH said after listening to the explanation by the Resident Electoral Commissioner on his purported visit to Edo State, he concluded that the attack on him was a discouragement for people of integrity to serve in government.

National Chairman of Zenith Labour Party, DAN NWANYANWU, had also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to send the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner to oversee the election in Edo State.

Ijaw elder statesman, Chief EDWIN CLARK also frowned at the APC’s allegations and called on the State Chairman and the Campaign Council spokesman to apologise the INEC REC.
