The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it is ready to conduct the governorship election in Anambra State on November 6 this year.
In the coming weeks, the commission plans to make public a new register of voters in Anambra State, ahead of the election.
INEC also intends to use the Anambra State election, and a bye-election in Delta State this month to test its new technology for accreditation of voters.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu told civil society stakeholders at a meeting in Abuja that all voters must be captured one the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.
Professor Mahmoud said the new technology is an improvement from the smart card reader that was used in past elections.
