Kobe Bryant and Daughter statue placed at crash site   

The statue of American basketball legend, Kobe Bryant, with that of his daughter, Gianna, have been erected at the location where they were both killed in a helicopter crash two years ago.

The memorial statue in Calabasas, California, was created by a by sculptor Dan Medina, and it shows Kobe in his Lakers jersey, with his arm around Gianna, who is also in a uniform and holding a basketball.

Engraved on the statue’s steel pedestal are the names of all nine victims of the early morning crash on January 26, 2020.

It also includes an inscription of Bryant’s famous quote: “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever.”

A five-time NBA champion in his 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Bryant’s death at age 41 shocked the world of professional sports and sent his fans into mourning.

Gigi was 13 at the time of the crash, which occurred as they were heading to a youth basketball tournament.
