Lawyer drags President Buhari to court over delayed appointment of IGP

An Abuja lawyer has gone to court to challenge the continued stay in office by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

Maxwell Okpara filed the lawsuit two days after I.G.P Adamu completed the mandatory thirty-five years in service on Monday, February 1, 2021, as required by the Police Act.

OKPARA wants the Court to determine whether President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigeria Police Council have not abandoned their duties by failing to appoint a new Inspector General of Police.

Respondents in the case include President Buhari, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of Minister of Justice.
