Military warns against coup; pledges allegiance

The Nigerian Military has vowed to crush any attempt to topple the government through unconstitutional means.

The Military High Command warned those it described as misguided politicians who may be nursing the ambition to rule this country outside the ballot box to banish such thoughts.

It also reminded all military personnel that it is treasonable to even contemplate such illegality, as those who attempt such would face the full wrath of the law.

Instead; the military under the current leadership, pledged its allegiance to the Nigerian Constitution and the elected President, and vowed to defend Nigeria’s democracy and its growth.

The warning by the Nigerian Military High Command was contained in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.

The statement was in response to comments by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clark, which the military considers as a suggestion for the military to take over power and restructure the country.
