NUPENG issues 14-day strike notice

The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has issued a fourteen-day strike notice to the Federal Government.

The strike notice was issued in a statement released by NUPENG, which is expected to take effect from the beginning of December.

According to the statement signed by NUPENG President, Williams Akhoreha, and General Secretary, Olawale Afolabi; the union said it reached the decision at a special national delegates conference last Thursday.

The leadership of NUPENG is demanding the payment of salaries of its members, as well as other benefits relating to their welfare.

The welfare issues include the non-payment of terminal benefits to it members who were declared redundant in 2012 by the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited.
