Northern leaders of the People’s Democratic Party have chosen former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, for the position of National Chairman of the PDP.
Iyorchia Ayu was picked as a consensus candidate over former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, and former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi.
Ayu, a former Senate President, who is from the North-Central, emerged the consensus candidate of the PDP after series of meetings.
In his acceptance speech, Ayu promised to work with other party leaders to rebuild the party in order for it to take power come 2023.
