There are strong indications that the Zoning Committee of the People’s Democratic Party may have decided to throw open the party’s ticket for the 2023 presidential election.
Sources closed to the PDP Zoning Committee dropped the hint to newsmen at the end of their meeting in Abuja yesterday.
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State who is a member of the thirty-seven-member committee simply told newsmen that their decisions would be sent to the National Executive Committee of the PDP for consideration.
Earlier, some chieftains of the PDP, including Chief Dan Ulasi from Anambra State, had advised the party against zoning its presidential ticket.
Chief Ulasi warned that zoning may cause divisions within the PDP and spoil the chances of the party to return to power.
