Police rescue sixty-seven-old man from jumping into Lagos Lagoon

The police in Lagos have stopped a man of about sixty-seven-year-old from killing himself by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon.

The man, identified as Oluwatoye Bamgboye, was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad on the Third Mainland Bridge.

The Public Relations Unit of the Lagos State Police Command disclosed in a statement that Bamgboye tried to commit suicide instead of celebrating his birthday today.

According to a statement obtained by Lasgidi FM News Desk, the man who is from Oju-Ore in Ogun State, confessed that he had to sell his house, land and car but still could not solve his personal challenges.

The Police said Bamgboye also told detectives that even after he managed to get a job, he was told that the job had been given to someone else when he resumed.

The man also said his wife left him which is why he decided to end his suffering and frustration by killing himself instead of celebrating his birthday.
