Pre-Election Lawsuit against Governor Akeredolu fails

• PDP’s jegede closes case in Tribunal

A lawsuit challenging the primary election of the All Progressives Congress that produced Governor ROTIMI AKEREDOLU of Ondo State has failed.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja dismissed the lawsuit challenging the APC’s primary election that produced Governor AKEREDOLU as the candidate of the party in the last governorship election.

Justice INYANG EKWO ruled that the case by OLAJUMOKE ANIFOWOSE was filed outside fourteen days allowed by law for a pre-election matter, and therefore stand.

In a related development; the PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State, EYITAYO JEGEDE, has closed his case at the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure.

JEGEDE had listed four hundred witnesses to prove his case that Governor AKEREDOLU did not win the election on October 10, 2020.

But after presenting two witnesses on Tuesday, JEGEDE’s lawyer, ONYECHI IKPEAZU, told the Tribunal that his clients were no longer interested in calling witnesses.

Meanwhile; the Tribunal has adjourned further hearing of the petition till January 19, after INEC’s lawyer, CHARLES UWENSUYI- EDOSOMWAN, asked for more time to study the petitions.
