Senate confirms Justice Abdullahi as FCT Chief Judge

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi as Chief Judge for the High Courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The confirmation of Justice Abdullahi ’s appointment followed the adoption of the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Right and Legal Matters.

According to the report presented by the Chairman, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Committee observed that the appointment of Justice Abdullahi was in line with provisions of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, as amended.

The Committee noted that Justice Abdullahi has the required experience and leadership qualities to uphold the dignity of the High Court of the FCT.

In another development; President Muhammadu Buhari has also asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of Kolawole Oladipupo as Executive Commissioner of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

Meanwhile; the Senate has adjourned plenary for the rest of the week, and will reconvene on Tuesday next week, which is on May 4, 2021.
