U.S hails Nigeria as most important African partner

The United States says the North-East of Nigeria has become one of the world’s most challenging and complex humanitarian crises.

In response to the crisis, the United States says it has provided about one point four-five billion dollars in support of households in the region since 2015.

In addition; the US says it has through its Department of State and Department of Defense offered security assistance for Nigeria to the tune of about six hundred and fifty million dollars.

This information was revealed by the US Mission in Nigeria, ahead of the virtual meeting between the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday.

According to the US FactSheet obtained by Lasgidi FM News Desk, the United States notes that Nigeria remains one of its most important partners in Africa.

The US also says Nigeria is the largest source of immigrants from Africa to the United States, and also has more than five hundred thousand Nigerian-born American citizens and legal residents in the U.S.

It also noted that it was looking forward to delivering twelve A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the Nigerian Military this year.
