US slams new sanctions against Russia

The United States has imposed new sanctions against Russia in response to cyber-attacks and interference in the country’s 2020 presidential elections.

The new sanctions are targeted at thirty-two Russian entities, and include the expulsion of diplomats.

President Joe Biden approved the measures in an Executive Order over what the White House views as Russia’s harmful foreign activities.

President Biden had in a phone call on Tuesday with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, said the US would act firmly in defence of its national interests.
