The new Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has been decorated with the rank of Inspector General of Police.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo decorated IGP Baba with is new rank during a ceremony at the Conference Hall of the State House in Abuja.
In his remarks; Professor Osinbajo charged the Acting IGP to take note that his appointment came at a time that Nigeria was facing extreme security challenges, adding that he must begin to tackle them immediately.
Osinbajo also stressed the important role of the police in law enforcement, as the primary agency charged with maintaining law and order.
In his response during an interview with State House Correspondent, IGP Baba admitted that the task before him was challenging, and he promised to do his best.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi.
