Acting IGP orders withdrawal of senior police officer from EFCC

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered the withdrawal of senior police officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The directive was contained in a letter to the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, and signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, Idowu Owuhunwa, who is a Commissioner of Police.

The letter was dated April 15, and those affected by the directive are police officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police and above.

The police officers being withdrawn from the EFCC were expected to report to the IGP’s Principal Staff Officer, with effect from today, for further instructions.

According to the letter; the Acting Inspector General of Police took the decision as a result of the present operational requirements of the police.
