DSS issues 2nd security alert in less than 4 weeks

The Department of State Services has issued a second warning in less than four weeks about some persons and groups who are allegedly planning to cause religious and ethnic crisis in the country.

The DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, who made this known in a statement, said those behind the alleged plot intend to tack advantage of the divisions within the country.

Afunanya noted that the DSS and other security and law enforcement agencies would take necessary steps to protect the life and property of Nigerians.

The first time the DSS issued this kind of warning was in a statement released by AFUNANYA on January 11.

In that statement, the secret police agency claimed that some persons were working with external forces to cause religious violence in Nigeria.

The DSS listed areas that were being targeted to include Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers, Oyo, Lagos, and other locations in the South East.
