FG kicks, as UK offers asylum for Pro-Biafra agitators

The government of the United Kingdom has offered to grant asylum to pro-Biafra agitators in Nigeria who are being persecuted by the authorities.

The UK’s offer of asylum to pro-Biafra agitators is said to be under new guidelines released by the UK Visas and Immigration to its decision-makers.

According to the guidelines quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria, the UK asylum is to be granted to persecuted members the Indigenous Group of Biafra, IPOB, which the Federal Government proscribed as a terrorist group.

The report said the asylum guidelines also cover members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB.

However; the UK decision is being criticized by the Federal Government of Nigeria, which described it as disrespectful.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the UK decision was an act of sabotage against the fight against terrorism and generally undermine Nigeria’s security.

Lai Mohammed, who was responding to questions from newsmen in Abuja, said the Federal Government does not accept the UK’s decision, adding that the Minister of Foreign Affairs will handle the issue appropriately.
