Gov Ganduje calls for profiling of herders, as Ogun state host security forum • Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar warns of disintegration

Political and community leaders have agreed on ways to end the herdsmen violence in parts of the Southwest of Nigeria.

This was the outcome of a security forum in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where southwest leaders were joined by their counterparts from the North to look at the issues.

The meeting was called by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, with four governors from the North in attendance.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State particularly called for a review of the ECOWAS Protocol, which allows for free movement of herders into the country.

Meanwhile; one of the traditional rulers in Ogun State, Oba Benjamin Olanite of Imeko, has warned that arms and ammunitions were being imported into Yewaland to cause more violence.

In a related development; a former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has warned that Nigeria may disintegrate.

General Abubakar said to avoid the disintegration of the country, Nigerians must remain calm and united in the face of existing challenges.

He called on state governors to take full control of managing the crises and frustration among citizens in their states to avoid disunity, anarchy and disintegration.
