The attacks on police stations and stealing firearms by unknown hoodlums continues in parts of the Southeast and South-South of Nigeria.

One week after four policemen were murdered and two rifles stolen at a checkpoint in Calabar, gunmen have again attacked the police in Cross River State.

The latest incident happened in the early hours of today at two communities in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The state Police Command confirmed the attack, but denied claims that six policemen and a soldier were killed at two checkpoints in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, confirmed that two policemen were shot and two guns stolen by the hoodlums.
