NIN-SIM LINK: Nigerians welcome extension of deadline

The Federal Government has extended the deadline for Nigerians to link their National Identity Number to mobile phone SIM by eight weeks.

This means that instead of the initial expiry date of February 9, mobile phone subscribers who are yet to link their SIM to their NIN would be allowed to enjoy services until April 8, 2021.

The new deadline was confirmed in a statement that was jointly signed by the spokespersons for the Nigerian Communications Commission and the National Identity Management Commission.

Meanwhile; some residents of Lagos have thanked the government for extending the deadline for the linking of SIM cards with the National Identification Number.

However, those who spoke with Lasgidi FM’s news desk want the government to consider other means to increase the rate of registration by National Identification Management Commission.
