Police Chief orders major changes in Anambra state ahead of election

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has ordered a major overhauling of the security architecture in Anambra State ahead of the November 6th governorship election.

Force Public Relations Officer, C.P Frank Mba, disclosed in a statement that the overhauling includes the deployment of selected Strategic Commanders from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and above to Anambra State.

The IGP said that Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joseph Egbunike has been deployed to Anambra State as the coordinator of the security component for the election with DIG in-charge of Operations, Acting D.I.G Zaki Ahmed as his assistant.

The Inspector General of Police assured Nigerians that the force will work with INEC and all stakeholders to provide level playing ground for all political actors and ensure adequate protection of voters, INEC personnel and accredited observers.
