Senate Investigates CCT Chairman for alleged assault

The Senate has directed its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to investigate a case of assault brought against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar.

The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, gave the directive following a petition brought on behalf of a security guard of a shopping centre in Abuja, which was presented by Senator ISTIFANUS GYANG of Plateau North.

According to the petition; the victim, Clement Sargwak, alleged that he was assaulted by the CCT Chairman, and a policeman attached to him after he pointed out that his car was wrongly parked.

Clement Sargwak further alleged that he was slapped several times by the CCT Chairman, and also forced kneel down, for performing his lawful duties.
