The Senate has summoned the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
The CBN Governor is expected to brief the federal lawmakers about the suspension of bank accounts that are used for cryptocurrency transactions.
The Senate took the decision based on a motion by Senator Istifanus Gyang in reaction to the CBN’s directive to financial institutions.
The Senate also mandated its Committee on Banking, ICT, Cybercrime, and Capital Market to listen to the CBN Governor and report back in two weeks.
